In Bragason’s frequently hilarious satire, a politically paranoid school teacher, committed to a remote, underfunded psychiatric hospital in 1992, sparks a revolution when his socialist rantings prove potent to his fellow inmates. Never the less, with doctors and carers now locked up, and medication merely optional, chaos soon reigns, allowing another patient (with multiple personalities) to make a rival bid for the leadership of their rapidly imploding new utopia. However, a kindly therapist, his inquisitive 14-year-old daughter, a chicken named Julius, and a herd of pink elephants all come to play their part. Excellent comic performances abound.
