Alice in Wonderland

Tim Burton | 2010 | ★★½
A 19-year-old girl (Mia Wasikowska), anxious about her imminent, unwelcome marriage proposal, falls down a rabbit hole into a magical other world, peopled by colourful talking animals and warring, colour-coded royals, stumbling into a great, action-packed adventure. However, believing that she is in the midst of the same dream that she has been having since she was a small child, she fails to take any of it all that seriously. Charismatic performances and imaginative visuals hold the attention, but inconsistent pacing, soporific action sequences, and distracting CGI weigh the film down.
