Betty in Blunderland (1934)

Animated Short Film | Musical Fantasy | USA | English | 7m
Dir: Dave Fleischer | Prod: Max Fleischer | Animation: Roland Crandall & Thomas Johnson | Cast: Bonnie Poe

Betty Boop falls asleep whilst completing an Alice in Wonderland jigsaw, but is awakened by a white rabbit, who leads her through her bedroom mirror to a magical other world. She finds it all pleasant enough, until the Jabberwocky grabs her up and carries her off, in this relatively disappointing animated short film. With most of the imagination on show coming from Lewis Carroll rather than the brothers Fleischer, Betty in Blunderland fatally lacks the talented duo's usual wit, invention, and irreverence. Mildly Diverting, never the less.
