Beau Chumps
Short Film | Comedy | USA | English | 37m
Dir: James W. Horne | Dialogue: H.M. Walker | Ph: Jack Stevens & Art Lloyd | Prod: Hal Roach | Ed: Richard Currier | Snd: Elmer Raguse | Cast: Stan Laurel, Oliver Hardy, Abdul Kasim K'Horne (James W. Horne), Charles Middleton, Broderick O'Farrell, Harry Schultz

After being jilted by his beloved Jeanie Weanie, Ollie decides that he and Stan should join the foreign legion to help forget, only to discover that most of the other new recruits are carrying tear-stained photographs of her as well; but exhausting walks through the desert and war with the blood-thirsty Riffs soon manages to take his mind off things, in this patchy Laurel and Hardy vehicle. Hardy’s apparent serenading of Laurel in the opening scene is a decided high point, but much of what follows proves rather familiar, and even a tad tiresome, though never less than diverting.
