Godfrey’s musical-comedy extravaganza presents a decidedly irreverent portrait of the great Victorian engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel, employing a great eclectic mix of music and animation styles to both celebrate his triumphs and commiserate his failures, and in so doing proves as much a joy for the senses as it does the funny bone. A song that lists all of the things that Brunel didn’t in fact invent proves particularly amusing.
