A soon-to-be-married New York psychiatrist (Billy Crystal) finds his world turned upside down when a notorious, anxiety-ridden mob boss (Robert De Niro) enlists his therapeutic services, putting him in the middle of an escalating gang war in the process, in Ramis’s smart, entertaining gangster comedy. The performances are all generally fine, with De Niro and Crystal being predictably good, though Joe Viterelli’s supporting turn proves the most memorable. However, pacing problems affect things somewhat, resulting in a that film is not quite as effective as it could have been.
