A man struggles to adjust to his new life in a city filled with blandly tasteless food and blandly tasteful furniture, where everyone seems blandly content with their bland lives, in Lien’s enigmatic, blackly comic gem, in which he declares grey, bland, bourgeois modernity to be literally hell on earth. The deadpan Aurvåg brilliantly brings Schreiner’s thoughtfully bonkers script to life, captured in every possible shade of grey by Rosenlund’s eye-catching photography.
